Clean Pixels finds duplicate and near-duplicate photos in your library and helps you remove them. This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: your photos are analysed on your device and are never sent to us.
All analysis happens on your iPhone. Clean Pixels reads your photo library through Apple's Photos framework, and the work of grouping similar shots — image hashing, on-device machine learning, quality scoring, and clustering — runs entirely on your device's processor and Neural Engine.
Your photographs, the analysis results derived from them, and the decisions you make about which to keep are stored only on your device. They are not transmitted to us, and we have no server that could receive them. We cannot see your photos.
The app asks for access to your photo library so it can analyse it. You may grant full access or limited access; Clean Pixels works with whatever you share.
If you choose to delete photos, the app asks iOS to move them to Recently Deleted, where they remain recoverable for 30 days under Apple's normal behaviour. Nothing is deleted without your explicit confirmation, and photos marked as Favourites are never selected automatically.
Clean Pixels can copy photos to a cloud storage account before they are removed from your library. This only happens for destinations you connect and select, and the copies go directly from your device to your own account with that provider. We are not a party to that transfer and we receive no copy.
When you connect a cloud destination, you sign in through that provider's own software. Their handling of your sign-in and stored files is governed by their privacy policy, not this one:
Signing in to Google Drive uses Google's official sign-in software, which collects information associated with your Google account — including your name, email address, phone number, account and device identifiers, coarse location, and usage data — as described in Google's privacy policy. This happens only if you choose to connect Google Drive. If you never connect a cloud destination, none of it occurs.
You can disconnect a cloud account at any time in Settings → Cleanup destinations. Files already copied to your account stay there; remove them through that provider.
Instead of a cloud service you can copy photos to a Vault stored inside the app's own folder on your iPhone. Vault files never leave your device. They appear in the Files app under On My iPhone → Clean Pixels, where you can browse, export, or delete them yourself.
Clean Pixels has an optional Share anonymous diagnostics setting, found in Settings → Diagnostics & Privacy. It is off by default and does nothing unless you turn it on.
The app is built so that diagnostic data can only ever be counts, durations, byte sizes, true/false flags, and labels drawn from a fixed list reviewed in advance. Filenames, photo identifiers, image content, and location data cannot be included — the app has no way to represent them in a diagnostic report.
As of the effective date above, no diagnostics service is configured, so enabling the setting transmits nothing. If that changes, this policy will be updated before any data is sent.
Clean Pixels has no sign-up and no user account. There is no advertising software in the app. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or share personal information with data brokers.
The app stores your settings, your keep/remove decisions, and the results of its analysis in its own private storage on your iPhone. It also reads your device's available storage space to show you how much space you could reclaim, and the modification dates of files you have placed in the Vault so it can list them in order. This information stays on your device.
Deleting Clean Pixels removes all of it. Photos already copied to a cloud account, and photos already deleted from your library, are not affected by removing the app.
Clean Pixels is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
